Welcome to Scuttlebutt Inc's fic journal, the catacombs of... well, gay sex, honestly. We write yaoi fiction, mostly from the series One Piece and mostly of the Zoro/Sanji persuasion though if you dig you will find some Smoker/Ace, Ace/Sanji, Ener/Zoro and Ener/Wiper (friendslocked) and if you dig back real deep, there's some Jack/Will from Pirates of the Caribbean hidden in here.

For backlogging purposes, most of our fiction has been compiled into a little library which is rather easier to browse than our journal. It's not completely up to date but most of it is there. You can also visit our personal site Over a Barrel which has the fiction that we've written individually as well as all our cosplay stuff. Scuttlebutt-Inc.com is our business website.

Just so our readers know, some of our entries are friends locked. Anything that has content of a potentially disturbing nature (rape, etc.)is locked -- so basicly anything we feel we need to place a particularly strong warning on. If you're interested in having access to these fics, friend us, we'll friend you back and you'll be able to read them. Title: Between the Lines (Part One)

Comments: Well it's nearly two years since we posted anything here. Guess who's back?

This fic starts back at the beginning. Immediately following Arlong Park there was a definite sense of comraderie between Zoro and Sanji -- chemistry even. What happened there?

This promises to be a very long one, folks. For those of you wondering "WHAT ABOUT SOUND SIREN, ASSHOLES?!" -- I promise, we haven't forgotten you or that fic. We still (no, believe me. seriously.) have good intentions for that fic. But after such a long hiatus, we're easing back into writing these two seriously and are following where inspiration leads. We've been dabbling here and there and will probably have a few more things to post soon, as molasses-slow as we may be. :) I wonder if anyone will even remember us?! 

For those of you waiting for locked fics -- I'm going to try to get our friends lists on both journals updated over the next week or so. Thanks for your patience, the porn is coming, I swear!

We've been all over the place lately and are continuing to be all over the place. This weekend we will be at MetroCon out in Tampa, FL. In July we'll be making the usual rounds at Anime Expo in Los Angeles and JadePrince will be making the trip out to Baltimore for Otakon. Then of course ComicCon here in San Diego (mere miles from our house -- woohoo!) where we don't sell but will be participating in their masquerade for our third year! If you happen across us in an artist alley (look for the jolly roger on Scuttlebutt-Inc.com) make sure to stop by, tell us you read our fic and get a free badge. :D We love meeting One Piece fans!!

( Between the Lines -- Part One )

Hey folks! Remember when we promised like a year or more ago that we would come back to writing One Piece eventually? Well, that time has come. We've dug our heels in to a new fic to get the motor running and this one is promising to be stupidly long and drawn out. Hopefully we're not too rusty!

Before we start posting again though, we're looking for some help. With the Avatar stuff we've been posting over at scuttlebuttincx over the last year, we got the help of avocado_love to beta our fics and she has been a HUGE help in improving our writing and keeping us from posting stupid mistakes. But she doesn't do One Piece so we need some more help!!

What we're looking for is someone to keep in touch with to go over our fics with a fine tooth comb before they get posted and keep an eye out for bad grammar, characterization, run on sentences, all that kind of stuff. If you write yourself, we're more than happy to trade services and beta your fics too. We're looking specifically for someone who likes ZoSan and it shouldn't be too heavy a load. We're working on three big Avatar fics and original stuff at the same time so I imagine we'll end up putting out a chapter every couple weeks.

Every once in a while we make a post about ourselves and now is one of those times – which generally also means a dose of shameless self-promotion for which I refuse to apologize. :D

As some of you know, yes, we are a couple. We'll have been together six years as of July 2009. We live in San Diego with our cat, bearded dragon and fish. As a much smaller number of you may know, last year JadePrince was laid off from her job thanks to a big corporate merger that decimated the video game studio she was working for. She's taken this opportunity to go back to school and is working now toward her master's degree in illustration. In the meantime, while we're battling the rough job market, we're doing our best to grow our little business, Scuttlebutt-Inc.com, for selling fan-related stuffs and JadePrince is taking commissions for art work, as well as selling some goods through Brainbowz.com. If you're looking to do some shopping and want to help us out, please check out what we have to offer. Getting an online business on its feet is pretty challenging so any word of mouth would be much appreciated!

Our fan badges are very popular at anime conventions and JadePrince usually is booked by the second day for custom badges – but now we're going to be taking commissions for custom badges on-line! Now that we've been selling our art for nearly five years, we have a very large collection of designs available, including a number of One Piece designs. On a more on-topic note, how UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME is One Piece lately?! Believe it or not after an extremely long hiatus from writing OP, we're revisiting... although our latest experiment isn't likely to ever see the light of day since it's Sadie-chanxAce and if you want to see that you're just as sick as we are. Or at least almost as sick. But we have resolved to do our damndest to pick up Sound Siren again and finish that damn fic off! Stay tune for our efforts to beat off writer's block with a stick...

We've also been working at adding our older, non-NC-17 (which isn't many) to our FanFiction.net account which is at Fanfiction.net/~scuttlebuttinc. Apologies to those who also have our Avatar/Reborn fic journal friended and are getting this twice!

So, for those of you that may have been living under a rock for the last week -- Prop 8 was voted through in California, removing the right to marriage that we gays in California have had for nearly six months. It's been a harrowing week of ups and downs, the good news being that our community and our straight supporters have risen up strongly all over the nation to speak out about this act of injustice and discrimination.

This saturday will be a historic day. There will be protests taking place nationwide, simultaneously in every single state in the country -- and a few INTERNATIONALLY. I'm here to urge you to join us on saturday to stand up with us -- for us -- for yourselves. Gay or straight, this is an issue of civil rights and it is unthinkable that a vote was taken on this issue and the majority was allowed to make a decision that targets and marginalizes a minority while altering our constitution to include mandated discrimination. It's time now for us to stand up and shout instead of quietly waiting for our rights. We need to make ourselves visible and make sure that the far right realizes that we are not the wild deviants that they believe us to be, that we want this right for the same reason anyone does -- for LOVE. It was an especially difficult election for Jess and I, because we had been discussing getting married but decided to wait until after the election because we didn't want to make the choice under pressure or threat. If you want an inkling of how this measure has affected our lives, I have an open post in my journal that I wrote the day after the election. It's deeply personal but I feel important to give perspective to those that don't have insight into what this measure has meant to us.

Hi readers -- I wanted to leave a note here and apologize for the delay in responding to requests and comments! I just realized today that we had the WRONG email address attached to this account and were not getting ANY LJ notifications for it. And here I thought people just weren't reading our journal anymore because we haven't been posting... only to discover a bunch of requests that I didn't even know about!! AUGH!! So I'm working on getting everyone added and sending out notifications and all that good stuff. We've always had some issues with getting email properly because of silly things I set up when we first started selling at conventions -- I'm trying to get everything condensed and directed into the right places so that we actually GET our email. We've had several questions about our WIP One Piece fics and whether they will be continued, are we still OP fans, etc. Are we still OP fans? DEFINITELY! Are we still ZoSan fans? DEFINITELY! We've just branched out a lot and started writing for other fandoms. We separated our fic journals so that we wouldn't be spamming our One Piece fandom readers with other stuff -- at 

scuttlebuttincx is our Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Gurren Lagaan fic. Lately we've been writing mostly Sokka/Zuko fic for the Avatar fandom.

As far as our WIP fics, we're going with the flow. I know a lot of our readers want to see Sound Siren wrapped up and I'm hoping we can manage that -- Sound Siren was a really fun fic but it hit both Jess and I with NASTY writer's block toward the end. It was further discouraging when we lost the latest chapter to a hard drive failure (along with all of the high res versions of all of our badge designs and years of artwork and rough fic.) and has been difficult for us to get back to. The good news is, we've been writing a lot more lately than we have in years and inspiration is coming much easier. So going back to Sound Siren is a distinct possibility.

The other WIP in question is the ongoing schoolboys arc. The schoolboys story has always been a favorite of ours especially because it's admittedly so easy for us to write. ::laughs:: That was another loss of the HDD failure -- we had several ficlets that could have been cleaned up for posting. I've yet to go through the files that were recovered from that HDD but it is possible that some of it may have been restored. Whether or not we'll write *more* in that story, who knows. It was mostly a fallback for when we didn't feel like working with heavy action plot and were looking for something more fun and fluffy. :)

So tl;dr, we still love One Piece, we still love Zosan, we still write fic. Also, we still exist even though our email sucks.

For a personal update for us, we moved during the winter to a beach town in North San Diego county and have a place to ourselves for the first time ever. :D Next month is our five year anniversary. We're saving up to go back Japan in December to go to winter Comiket again -- so visit us in the artist alleys and buy our stuff!!! XD

On the con scene, we're sticking again to California conventions and are only doing a few this year. We will be at AX -- And we'll actually be AT OUR BOOTH! A lot of the time, our friend Kei keeps an eye on things for us because we're so busy getting ready for the masquerade. But this year GomuGomu no Cosplay is forgoing the AX masq in light of how poor the conditions were last year. So all of our time will be dedicated to the artist alley. Our booth will be very done up and we'll have an overhead banner with our name for people to spot us so please stop by and say hello! We'll also be in the fan market at Yaoi Con again this year.

Hello, everyone! Is it really fall already? Good lord...

It's been a very busy year for us at Scuttlebutt Inc... We did a lot of competing in the cosplay circuit in California and took home two Best of Shows and a couple of Judge's Awards -- but man are we relieved that the competing is over for the year. We have two cons left this year, the next of which is a crowd favorite -- Yaoi Con coming up at the end of this month! Anyone going to be there? We'll be in the artist alley and if you come by our booth and let us know that you read us on LJ, we'll give you a free badge. Meanwhile in the next few weeks, we are taking last minute suggestions on our message board for new badges at Y-Con. We're hoping to have 10-15 new badge designs at the convention, most of which are Yaoi badges.

Our site got a new design for the fall even though some of the kinks are still being worked out. A forum has been added for chat as well as keeping us informed where people are attending conventions and what they'd like to see from us. Drop by Scuttlebutt-Inc.com and let us know your opinions!

Well, we've finally given in and made a journal for our non-One Piece fanfiction. The new journal will contain fic from Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Hellsing and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann when it all gets archived.
